Here’s something to think about while you’re plowing snow: The Twins start playing ball this weekend.
They face Baltimore in Sarasota in the opening game of the exhibition schedule. Kevin Correia starts Saturday, and Liam Hendriks will start the home opener in Fort Myers on Sunday.
The expected starting lineup, according to MLB.com, looks like this:
1. Darin Mastroianni, CF
2. Eduardo Escobar, 3B
3. Josh Willingham, LF
4. Ryan Doumit, DH
5. Chris Parmelee, RF
6. Chris Colabello, 1B
7. Brian Dozier, 2B
8. Drew Butera, C
9. Pedro Florimon, SS
As for Correia, after he finishes his two-inning, 40-pitch stint, he’s off to San Diego. The Pioneer Press reports that’s where his wife will give birth to their third son, on March 1.
With an extended spring training this year (thanks to the World Baseball Classic), Correia says the time away will have “zero affect” on his preparation for the 2013 season.
