The #VoteSano campaign started by the Twins seems to be working because Sano has passed Baltimore’s Manny Machado in voting in the latest ballot update.
In the first ballot update last week, Machado led Sano by the slimmest of margins, about 6,000 votes. Sano now has more than a 100,000-vote lead on Machado, who dropped to third behind Chicago’s Jose Ramirez.
You can cast your votes right here.
Sano has been red-hot to start June after finishing May with nine straight strikeouts and two days off to recharge his battery. He racked up eight hits, two homers and four RBI to help Minnesota start a 10-game road trip with three wins in four games against the Angels.
Anyone but Sano leading the third base vote makes zero sense. Look how dominant he’s been compared to other AL third basemen. Comparing Sano specifically to Machado shows you all you need to know.
- Sano: .303, 14 HR, 43 RBI, 1.016 OPS, 8 2B, 32 BB
- Machado: .219, 12 HR, 27 RBI, .738 OPS, 12 2B, 23 BB
Machado has that East Coast celebrity thing going for him, but it’s becoming clearer every day that Sano is quickly assuming a role as a nationally known player.
