The baseball classic “The Sandlot” is coming to the Twins’ sandlot in Minneapolis next month for a 20th anniversary screening of the movie, 20th Century Fox says.
According to the studio, the film will screen on the scoreboard at Target Field following the Twins game against the Boston Red Sox May 19, at approximately 4:30 p.m.
In addition, David Mickey Adams, the writer, director and narrator of “The Sandlot,” will be attending the event — which has been dubbed “Sandlot Day.”
The Twins and Fox Sports North are teaming with 20th Century Fox for the screening, as well as an initiative where Minnesota communities can apply for Sandlot Scholarships to renovate their own sandlots.
The deadline for applications is May 19.
“The Sandlot” recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a re-release of the film on Blu-ray and DVD.
