The Minnesota Wild haven’t had their usual home-ice advantage this season, but they continued playing like there are 18,000 fans in the Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday evening.
The Wild picked up their franchise-record 10th straight win at home and fifth straight win over the Anaheim Ducks with a 3-2 victory.
The Wild got on the board first with Jared Spurgeon’s second goal of the season. After the Ducks chipped into the lead with Derek Grant’s second goal of the year, Spurgeon struck again with eight seconds remaining in the first period.

Spurgeon’s second goal of the night put the Wild ahead 2-1 heading into the second period but the Ducks had an answer. Max Comtois scored his 10th goal of the season to tie things up but Nico Sturm gave the lead back to Minnesota with his fourth goal of the season.

Sturm’s goal came courtesy of a gaffe by Ryan Miller that you would usually see on a Saturday at your local rink. Luckily for the Wild, it still counted to give them a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.
Cam Talbot took things home from there, recording 28 saves to give the Wild the victory.
The Wild improved to 20-10-1 on the season and will host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
