The Minnesota Twins picked up their 11th win in the past 12 games on Tuesday night, using Ryan Jeffers’s go-ahead home run to score a 7-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Jeffers’s heroics came in the sixth inning with the game tied at 2. After Gary Sanchez hit a double and Trevor Larnach drew a one-out walk, Jeffers smashed the first pitch he saw from Orioles reliever Keegan Akin over the fence in left-center and gave the Twins a 5-2 lead.

Jeffers’s third home run of the season was one of several highlights for the Twins lineup including Jose Miranda’s first career hit and RBI in the fourth inning. A double from the Twins rookie put the Twins on the board and a Jorge Polanco added an RBI single in the fifth in support of Joe Ryan.
Ryan wasn’t as sharp as he had been in his previous starts but he did a good job of keeping Baltimore from breaking the game open. The right-hander threw 4.2 innings allowing two runs, six hits and a walk while striking out three before turning it over to the bullpen.
The trio of Caleb Thielbar, Tyler Duffey and Cody Stashak combined for 4.1 scoreless innings and an RBI double from Byron Buxton in the ninth inning helped seal the win for the Twins.
The four-game series with the Orioles will continue on Wednesday night when Dylan Bundy takes the mound for Minnesota.
