The Minnesota Timberwolves opened the post-All Star Game portion of their season with a 111-109 victory over Phoenix Friday night at Target Center.
Ricky Rubio found Andrew Wiggins on a perfect pick-and-roll bounce pass leading to a layup with 17.6 seconds to go to put the Wolves up by three. It was Rubio’s 14th assist on the night.
Kevin Martin had a big night for Minnesota, he led the way with 28 on 10-of-16 shooting. Wiggins put together a big night as well. He added 20, including the late bucket and this impressive dunk.

Rubio finished the night with a double-double by scoring 10 points in addition to his 14 assists.
But he wasn’t the only one. Both of the Wolves post players had double-doubles as well. Nikola Pekovic scored 16 points and grabbed 11 boards, while Gorgui Dieng finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Markieff Morris led the undermanned Suns with 31 points. His brother Marcus Morris added 14.
The Wolves didn’t have newly acquired Kevin Garnett, he will join the team next week.
Minnesota (12-42) will play at Houston on Monday night, before returning to Target Center on Wednesday for Garnett’s debut against Washington.
