Ricky Rubio, traded from the Wolves to the Jazz in June, is already on record saying it was time for him and the Wolves to part ways, but now he sounds a bit disappointed that Wolves GM Scott Layden didn’t show more belief in him.
“To get traded, it’s not fun, but I was really excited to go to an organization that really believed in me,” Rubio said Wednesday, via Real GM.
It certainly appears that Rubio is suggesting the Wolves didn’t believe in him. But at the end of the day, Rubio arrived in Minnesota in 2011 and never helped lead the team to the playoffs, albeit for plenty of reasons beyond his play.
“My name was in the papers with rumors and all that stuff for the last couple years, but never traded,” Rubio added. “This summer, I guess it was time. I have no regrets. I had a great time in Minnesota, but I think it was time for the both of us to move on. I think it was that time of our relationship that it didn’t work out the way we wanted, and we move on.”
