Timberwolves guard Brandon Roy underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery on his right knee Monday and will miss about a month, according to the team. The Star Tribune reports it will take a few weeks for the swelling in his knee to go down before he can ease back into basketball activities.
Roy’s absence comes at a time when the Wolves are about to wrap up a four game homestand, and then head west for a four game road trip.
The biggest question right now is whether Roy’s sore knee is related to the chronic knee issues that forced him to retire two years ago. “What we won’t know is whether it’s related to the overall condition of his knees or if it could have occurred to anybody based on what happened in Green Bay,” Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn said.
