Eddie Rosario wasted no time making an impact in his first Major League game. The 23-year-old Twins rookie took the first pitch he saw over the left center field fence, sparking a four-run second inning and lifting the Twins to a 13-0 victory over the Oakland A’s.
Rosario finished 1-for-4 with the home run, but it was a moment that won’t soon be forgotten.
Rosario’s homer was certainly the highlight of the night, but a couple of other Twins stepped up at the plate as well. Eduardo Escobar was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, a home run and a double and Danny Santana was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the win.
Even though he didn’t start, Kennys Vargas also got in on the act with a three-run homer in the eighth.
Not only was the offense rolling, but Twins starter Kyle Gibson (3-2) was cruising. He tossed six scoreless innings as he scattered four hits, walked two and struck out one.

Ryan Pressly and J.R. Graham did their part with three scoreless innings in relief, and Shane Robinson put the exclamation point on the victory with a spectacular catch.

All of that was enough to hand Oakland starter Scot Kazmir (2-1) his first loss of the season.
The Twins (15-13) close their 11-game home stand Thursday afternoon with Ricky Nolasco on the mound against Oakland’s Drew Pomeranz.
