Richie Incognito is a 350-pound offensive lineman, but he spent late Monday night backpedaling like an all pro cornerback.
The free agent offensive lineman deleted his series of tweets related to a claim he made on TMZ in which he said the Vikings had called him to express interest in signing him.
Incognito tweeted “Mike Zimmer is a f—— liar” and then posted screen shots of his text messages with the late Tony Sparano, the former Vikings offensive line coach who died July 22 from heart disease. None of the texts from Sparano showed any clear interest from the Vikings.
The online outburst came shortly after Zimmer addressed Minnesota’s reported interest in Incognito: “No interest and totally false. Tweet that.”
About six hours of uncomfortable silence followed until Incognito deleted his tweets and sent out new ones, apologizing to Zimmer and saying he’s had a tough time dealing with Sparano’s death. Incognito played with the Dolphins under Sparano as the head coach in 2010 and 2011.

Incognito, 35, is a 12-year NFL pro with four Pro Bowl appearances under his belt. He’s spent the past three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, going to the Pro Bowl all three years.
