For those hoping for a college basketball matchup between Richard Pitino’s Gophers and Rick Pitino’s Iona squad, they may have received some good news on Saturday night.
With both stuck inside, the father and son duo took to Twitter to plant the seeds for a potential matchup that could take place next season by placing a wager on Brock Lesnar’s title defense at WrestleMania 36.
The conversation began with Rick’s grandkids making signs for “The Showcase of the Immortals” at home. As Richard re-tweeted to his followers, Rick came flying off the top rope with a challenge for the location of a future father-son matchup.

If @BrockLesnar wins, you guys play at Iona next year. If @DMcIntyreWWE wins, we’ll play at the Barn.

While the bet sounded good in earnest, Richard had to switch it around to put the former Gopher wrestling legend on his side.
How about you reverse that and it’s a deal. Can’t root against a Gopher https://t.co/9jrj5FJ5AX

It’s unknown whether a non-conference matchup can be scheduled like this, but ESPN’s Dan Wetzel was ready to go.
Why not 🤷🏻♂️. Nothing else to do! https://t.co/2FStEs20Hy

Lesnar will defend his WWE Championship on Sunday night against Drew McIntyre in the second night of WrestleMania 36.
The event was moved from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay to WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
