The Minnesota Vikings may be one step closer to resolving the Adrian Peterson situation.
USA Today Sports’ Tom Pelissero reports that Peterson on Monday flew from Houston, Texas, to New York City where he met face-to-face with Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf and General Manager Rick Spielman. Per the report, it was an extension of Peterson’s meeting last week with Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer.
The goal: figure out what to do with the former NFL MVP.

When asked about the meeting Peterson didn’t discuss it with ESPN’s Ben Goessling, but he has expressed publicly expressed concerns about returning to Minnesota following the lengthy battle against a child abuse charge, which he pleaded down to a crime of aggravated assault.

The Vikings maintain confidence in Peterson returning to Minnesota where the team would welcome him back with open arms.
Peterson is still on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s exempt list, but the Vikings – thanks to a ruling from a federal judge in late February – are allowed to make a roster move of any kind with him.
At 3:01 p.m. CT today the NFL’s new league year begins, and at that time, the Vikings can trade Peterson, restructure his contract, cut him or keep things status quo (Peterson has three years left on this Vikings contract).
Pro Football Talk says the timing of Peterson’s meeting with team owners is no coincidence and could be a sign that a resolution is near.
