The Minnesota Wild and head coach Mike Yeo are expected to agree on a contract extension soon.
That is quite the change from earlier in the season when it was reported that Yeo’s job status was literally day-to-day.
The Pioneer Press reports that after Yeo turned around the struggling team in March and led them to their first playoff series win in 11 years he is expected to sign a new deal that will keep him as the Wild’s head coach.

Minnesota was beaten by the defending NHL Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference semifinals in six games.
The Wild lost 2-1 in overtime of Game 6 on Tuesday night.

Yeo just completed the final year of a three-year contract. He has led the Wild to the playoffs in two of his three seasons in Minnesota.
According to the Star Tribune’s Michael Russo, Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is expected to meet with Yeo about a new deal soon.
