The Minnesota Timberwolves’ search for a new president of basketball operations has come to an end, with Gersson Rosas being hired for the job, according to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has already reported Rosas’ hiring.

Rosas comes to Minnesota from Houston, where he’s spent 16 seasons and most recently served as the executive vice president of basketball operations for the Rockets.
Rosas, 40, is a native of Bogota Columbia. He was the only Latino executive VP of basketball operations in the NBA, according to The Undefeated, which reveals that Rosas was “instrumental” in acquiring assets that helped the Rockets trade for James Harden.
In Houston, Rosas was GM Daryl Morey’s right-hand man, and if he’s anything like Morey he might be interested in transforming the Wolves into a 3-point shooting team, much the Rockets have been the last few years.
Houston led the NBA this season with an average of 45.4 three attempted per game. The Wolves were 26th, attempting an average of 28.7 threes per game.
Rosas will now likely have a big role in deciding whether to keep interim head coach Ryan Saunders, as well as whether or not GM Scott Layden will remain.
