After trading Devan Dubnyk to the Sharks earlier this week, it appears the Minnesota Wild are turning to another veteran to man the pipes at Xcel Energy Center next season.
According to reports, the Wild and goalie Cam Talbot have agreed to a three-year contract worth $11 million. The 33-year-old netminder posted a 2.63 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 26 games as a backup for the Calgary Flames last season.
Talbot then started 10 games in the playoffs for the Flames, posting a 2.42 goals-against average and .924 save percentage. As noted by The Athletic, if you take away the one clunker of a year Talbot had in 2018-19 with the Oilers, his career spans 279 games with a .918 save percentage.
It now appears likely that Talbot will share time in goal with Alex Stalock in Minnesota, while top goalie prospect Kaapo Kahonen will likely start next season in the AHL with the Iowa Wild.
