Selections of the NHL’s expansion draft for the Seattle Kraken won’t become official until Wednesday night, but The Athletic’s Michael Russo, citing sources, says the Kraken will take defenseman Carson Soucy from the Minnesota Wild.
Sources say the Kraken have taken defenseman Carson Soucy from the #mnwild.
Wild's top-5 D is now a top-3 of Brodin-Spurgeon-Dumba. Wild will need at least 3 NHL defensemen in free agency, plus a depth guy IMO, to push Calen Addison.

Numerous others have confirmed Russo’s report.
If Soucy is indeed off to Seattle, it leaves Minnesota with just three defensemen under contract: Jonas Brodin, Matt Dumba and Jared Spurgeon.
The Wild cut ties with Ryan Suter, while Ian Cole and Brad Hunt could become free agents. Minnesota also has top defense prospect Calen Addison, who played in three NHL games last season.
