After failing in their attempts to woo free agent defensive end Michael Johnson over the weekend, the Vikings are turning their attention to another free agent this week.
According to ESPN’s Ben Goessling, the Vikings are likely to bring in George Selvie for a visit later this week. Selvie, 28, was originally drafted by St. Louis in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Since then, he has also played for the Panthers, Jaguars, Buccaneers and Cowboys. He spent the last two seasons in Dallas, playing in all 16 games each season.
Selvie is primarily a left defensive end, who would take over Corey Wootton’s role along the Vikings’ defensive line.

According to Pro Football Talk, Selvie started 13 games for the Cowboys last season and had 30 tackles and three sacks. He had more individual success in 2013, when he recorded seven sacks while making 16 starts.
The Pioneer Press reports the Vikings had been in contact with Selvie’s representatives since March 7 and have remained in touch with them. If he signs with the Vikings, Selvie would join Everson Griffen and Brian Robison in the defensive line rotation.
