The Minnesota Twins are reportedly calling up another shortstop after Danny Santana’s struggles have landed him back in the minors.
Multiple media reports indicate the Twins will call up Jorge Polanco from Double-A Chattanooga. The reports cite Lookouts manager Doug Mientkiewicz as the source of the information.

Polanco, 21, is hitting .312 with four home runs and 26 RBIs with the Lookouts this season. He also stole 11 bases and scored 32 runs in 52 games so far.
Polanco is one of seven Lookouts named to the Southern League All Star Game. Further confirming the young shortstop’s call up was his omittance from the lineup of the second game of Tuesday’s double header.
FWIW, Jorge Polanco went 0-2 with 2 walks in Game 1. He is NOT in the Chattanooga lineup for Game 2.

Like Santana earlier this season, Polanco has struggled some defensively. He and Chattanooga third baseman Miguel Sano are tied for the minor-league system lead with 12 errors.
According to the Pioneer Press’ Mike Berardino, one scout who recently watched Polanco was concerned to see him bounce three straight throws to first – all on “routine plays.”
The Twins have not officially announced the news yet and therefore have not made a corresponding move.
