There’s a Tennessee Volunteers fan on Twitter who frequently tags me in tweets referencing Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara. This fan, @Tennesota, is a huge Volunteers and Vikings fan and he’d like nothing more than to see his favorite college running back suit up in purple and gold next season.

At a minimum, the Vikings are interested in Kamara’s potential. According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, Kamara will visiting the Vikings this week as part of the team’s top 30 pre-draft visit.
“Just turn on the Vanderbilt game,” a scout said to Bleacher Report when describing Kamara. “The kid runs with vision, he has the burst we want to get past the defense and he’s a damn good receiver out of the backfield. He’s exactly what our league wants in a running back.”
Kamara, who originally committed to Alabama, averaged 7 yards per touch and scored 23 touchdowns in two years with the Vols.
247 Sports notes that NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks called Kamara the “biggest winner” among the running backs available in the draft. That’s a big statement considering the draft is loaded with backs like Leonard Fournette, Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffery and others.
Toledo running back Kareem Hunt will also make a trip to Minnesota this week, according to the Star Tribune. We profiled Hunt in a story back in February.
Minnesota doesn’t own a first-round pick so any running back they take will have to fall to the second round or later.
The Vikings already signed former Raiders running back Latavius Murray, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Vikings wait until deeper in the draft to take a running back. That would likely mean guys like Kamara are off the board.
