Shurmur was named the interim offensive coordinator on Nov. 2 when Norv Turner resigned mid-season. Before taking over for Turner, Shurmur was the team’s tight ends coach.
Mike Zimmer said at his end of the year press conference that Shurmur “did a very good job,” running the offense after Turner’s sudden resignation.
Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford also has a connection with Shurmur having worked with him in St. Louis and Philadelphia.
Bradford told reporters in December that he’s “all for” having Shurmur back next season.
According to Mark Craig of the Star Tribune, the Vikings will be announcing the move in the coming days.
