It didn’t take long after Minnesota’s 21-14 victory in the Quick Lane Bowl for news to begin leaking out about new coaches on the Gophers coaching staff.
Multiple reports Monday night indicated that the Gophers will hire Minnesota native and Louisiana-Lafayette offensive coordinator Jay Johnson as the Gophers next offensive coordinator.
Reports also said Minnesota would hire Florida Atlantic University offensive line coach Bart Miller as their next offensive line coach.
The Star Tribune’s Joe Christensen was the first to break the story locally.

Johnson graduated from Lakeville High School in 1988. He has been coaching college football for 23 years and has been the offensive coordinator at Augsburg, Truman State and Southern Miss.
At Louisiana-Lafayette, Christensen notes that his offenses are known for their run and pass balance.
Confirming Jay Johnson, of Louisiana Lafayette, will be #Gophers next offensive coordinator — thanks to assist from @GophersNow.

Miller has spent the last two seasons as the offensive line coach at Florida Atlantic University. The blog OwlAccess notes Miller was one of the coaches originally hired when Charlie Partridge originally became the head coach at Florida Atlantic.

Prior to he spent one season at New Mexico State. He also has experience in the Big Ten; he coached at Wisconsin from 2011-12, moving from quality control to offensive line coach for the 2012 season.
The Gophers have not made a formal announcement, but coach Tracy Claeys said earlier that he would not announce coaches for the team prior to the bowl game.
So the official word could come as soon as Tuesday.
