The fluid world of college football recruiting has resulted in an apparent change for the Gophers’ 2019 recruiting class.
According to multiple reports, four-star defensive end Jason Bargy is no longer committed to the Gophers after the University of Minnesota decided to go in a different direction because of Bargy’s high school grades.
This from Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press:
“Defensive end Jason Bargy, of Momence, Ill., and Minnesota have had issues with his high school grades, and there are questions whether he will meet NCAA qualifications to play in college, a source said.”
Bargy is among the top recruits in Illinois for the Class of 2019 and was Minnesota’s highest-rated 2019 recruit; the only four-star player on Minnesota’s list, according to 247 Sports.
But as Bargy’s commitment is apparently undone, the Gophers received a new commit on Monday with Winona defensive end Aaron Witt announcing that he’s going to attend school at the U of M and play for coach P.J. Fleck.
