Minnesota Gophers freshman basketball player Kevin Dorsey reported his phone as stolen two days before a sexually explicit video was posted to one of his social media accounts, according to multiple reports.
Bloomington Police Department Deputy Chief Mike Hartley confirmed to KSTP that Dorsey reported the phone stolen on Feb. 24 – and security footage confirms the theft taking place at Mall of America.
Two days later there were reports of a lewd video being posted to Dorsey’s Twitter account. He was subsequently suspended, along with fellow Gopher basketball players Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer, for a violation of team rules, although the University of Minnesota has not made it clear what the violations were.
In a statement to the Pioneer Press, Dorsey’s family said: “Kevin did not post any sexually explicit images or videos, nor did he consent to any such videos being posted.”
Kevin Dorsey Sr. declined to comment on the existence of the video.
All three suspended players watched from the bench in street clothes as the Gophers lost to Wisconsin at Williams Arena on Wednesday night.
