Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was killed in a car accident in Alabama Sunday night, according to reports.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the tragic news through Tennessee State University, where Jackson was a quality control and quarterbacks coach on the football team.

ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reports that the crash happened around 8:50 p.m. about seven miles south of his hometown of Montgomery. Citing the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Cronin says Jackson was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camara when he left the roadway, hit a tree and overturned.
Jackson, 36, was drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft and played 10 years in the NFL, including five years in Minnesota where he went 10-10 in 20 starts while throwing for 39 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.
He later played two stints with the Seahawks and one year with the Bills. He was quarterback Russell Wilson’s backup during Seattle’s Super Bowl season in 2014.

His bio at Tennessee State says he was married with three children. He grew up in Montgomery, Alabama.
