The Minnesota Timberwolves have made an offer to the Cleveland Cavaliers for All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

So far, these are among the teams who’ve made offers to the Cavaliers for Irving, league sources tell ESPN: The San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Miami Heat. There were approximately 20 teams that inquired with Cleveland upon the news of Irving’s trade request, league sources said, but far fewer have registered legitimate proposals.
It’s unclear who the Wolves offered for Irving. One name that stands out as a possibility is Andrew Wiggins, the 22-year-old rising star whom was drafted by the Cavaliers No. 1 overall in 2013 before being traded to Minnesota in the deal for Kevin Love.

Ex-Wolves head coach Sam Mitchell now hosts a show on Sirius XM NBA Radio and he’s on record saying Irving is the only player in the league he would trade Wiggins for.

Wiggins averaged a career-high 23.6 points, 4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last season and he’s in contract talks with the Timberwolves about an extension. He’s eligible to become a restricted free agent next summer.
Minnesota cannot trade newly signed point guard Jeff Teague until Dec. 15. Any deal that happens before then would result in a roster with Teague and Irving.
It’s critical to note that ESPN has reported that Wolves stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler are urging the front office to make a deal for Irving.
