Andre Iguodala will be a name to watch for Timberwolves fans this summer.
According to ESPN, the Wolves are among a handful of teams expected to target Iguodala in free agency. The 33-year-old small forward has made just one start in his last three seasons, but he’s still considered a viable defender and knockdown 3-point shooter for the Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors.
Iguodala’s numbers don’t jump off the page – 7.6 points, 4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1 steal this season – but he’s once again expected to glue himself to LeBron James in the NBA Finals, beginning in Game 1 Thursday night.
The Mercury News summed up why teams will go hard after the 13-year veteran this summer.
“He is reputed for being the best answer to one of the greatest players ever in LeBron James. He is the dagger 3-point shooter, destroying the hopes of opponents that exhaust their resolve trying to stop the Warriors’ All-Stars. He is the steady, reliable veteran who calms the seas just by being on the floor. And as he enters free agency, he figures to have a market of teams thirsty for those traits lobbying for his services, including the Warriors.”
NBA free agency begins in July.
