Former Vikings defensive back Antoine Winfield is close to a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
According to the report, the Seahawks hope to employ Winfield as the team’s nickel back — a reduced role from the one he played with the Vikings.
Winfield, who was due $7.5 million if he stayed with Minnesota, was released in March to clear salary cap space.
The 36-year-old veteran finished with 100 tackles last season, his highest single season total in nine seasons with the Vikings.
