With a five-year, $148 million maximum contract extension already offered to Andrew Wiggins by the Timberwolves, Wiggins has fired his agent, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wiggins’ agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN that Wiggins likely fired him after another agency offered to represent him on a commission-free basis.
That’s bad for Duffy, but good for Minnesota because it doesn’t appear to mean he’s against signing the extension. Even Duffy said he expects Wiggins to sign the contract.
“Obviously, whenever Andrew signs the max extension that we negotiated with Minnesota, we will work with the NBPA to make sure that our interests are protected,” Duffy told ESPN.

So, Duffy will fight to get paid a commission even though Wiggins might sign his extension under new representation.
Wiggins has until Oct. 1 to sign an extension, otherwise he’ll become a restricted free agent next summer.
