It’s going to take a “blockbuster” deal for any team to convince the Vikings to trade star running back Adrian Peterson.
That’s the word Wednesday from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Peterson met for at least 90 minutes with NFL boss Roger Goodell on Tuesday in what is being viewed as Peterson’s first steps on the road to reinstatement. The former MVP is not eligible for reinstatement until at least April 15.
While Schefter says a blockbuster offer will be necessary, Monday Morning Quarterback’s Peter King says the Cowboys and Cardinals – the two most likely teams to pursue a trade – won’t give up the farm to get Peterson.
“I can tell you that neither of those teams, Dallas or Arizona, is going to do something stupid for Peterson. They don’t have to. This draft is too good at running back, and the two teams, as of the close of business Tuesday, are pretty snug up against the cap, considering they still have rookies to sign. Dallas has about $12.8 million available, and Arizona $9.1 million.”
Viking Update, however, says Dallas and Arizona have the means necessary to entice the Vikings to trade Peterson. On top of that, “things could move quickly” once teams interested in trading know for certain that Peterson won’t be further suspended by the NFL, which is said to be “highly unlikely.”
