Louisiana State University quarterback Zach Mettenberger will meet privately with the Minnesota Vikings, ESPN reports.
Mettenberger will hold his pro-day workout with LSU on Thursday. The Vikings will attend the workout and meet with him following the session.
The 6-foot-5 QB is considered to have one of the strongest arms in the draft. He finished last season, his senior year at LSU, with 22 touchdowns and 3,082 yards.
The biggest concern with Mettenberger, at this point, is his health. Yahoo! Sports reports that he is recovering well from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in his left knee during a game against Arkansas last season.
He’s not 100 percent healthy following the January surgery to repair his knee, but he will go through all quarterback drills during his workout, according to NFL reporter Adam Caplan.
Mettenberger’s first college stop wasn’t LSU. He started his college career with the Georgia Bulldogs but was dismissed from the team in 2010 after charges of underage possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and possession of false identification.
The end result was Mettenberger pleading guilty to sexual battery of a 20-year-old woman, according to USA Today. He was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 80 hours of community service.
After leaving Georgia he spent a year at a junior college before winding up at LSU.
The Vikings have also attended and/or met privately with Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater, Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel, Central Florida’s Blake Bortles and Fresno State’s Derek Carr, among others.
