Josh Metellus and the Minnesota Vikings have come to an agreement on a two-year contract extension that ESPN’s Adam Schefter says is worth up to $13 million, including $6 million guaranteed.
Metellus, a jack of all trades safety who earned a role as a team captain late last season, is expected to play a significant role this season as defensive coordinator Brian Flores is likely to use three safeties on the field as once. The expectation is for Metellus to be on the field with fellow safeties Harrison Smith and Cam Bynum quite often.

Metellus, a former sixth-round pick out of Michigan, started three games last season and finished the year with 42 tackles, one interception and five passes defended.
The Vikings open the 2023-24 regular season Sunday against Tampa Bay.
