Glen Taylor has confirmed that he’s listening to offers and could sell the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the potential bidding war includes ex-Wolves star player Kevin Garnett and the owners of the Minnesota Vikings, Zygi and Mark Wilf.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Wilfs are a “serious candidate” and in a “prime spot at this time to buy the Timberwolves.” Schefter says a decision from Taylor may not come until September, and that he’s seeking at least $1.2 billion for the NBA franchise.
Taylor bought the Timberwolves in 1994 for $88 million, essentially saving them from possible relocation at the time.
Taylor informed The Athletic that a potential buyer will have to commit to keeping the Timberwolves in Minnesota. The 79-year-old also said he’d like to keep the Wolves and his WNBA franchise, the Minnesota Lynx, under the same ownership.
Glen Taylor says he thinks the Timberwolves and Lynx will remain under one house should a sale happen.

After news of a possible sale broke Tuesday, Garnett went public with his desire to own the team that he starred on for 14 seasons in the city that he also called home for more than a decade.
“My passion for the Minnesota Timberwolves to be a championship team is well known but I have a deeper affection for the city of Minneapolis,” wrote Garnett. “I once again want to see Minneapolis as the diverse and loving community that I know it is. No two people love the city more than myself and Glen Taylor and I look forward to trying to work with him to achieve my dream.”
Garnett is partnered with an unidentified group of investors, while another interested buyer, per ESPN and The Athletic, is Meyer Orbach, who already owns minority stake in the franchise.
