The Vikings’ quarterback situation might be taking another turn.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Vikings are showing interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman, who was benched earlier this week.
“It’s not working with Christian Ponder,” La Canfora said. “They probably will give Cassel a look-see this week, maybe even a week after that, but they have the early bye — they need to change some things up there. Rick Spielman, their GM, really liked Josh freeman coming out of college. He’s only 25 years old.”
La Canfora says Tampa Bay will pretty much give Freeman away for a fourth, fifth or sixth-round draft pick.
We’ll keep tabs on this story if it spreads its wings any wider.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier plans to announce whether Christian Ponder or Matt Cassel will start Sunday in London against the Steelers during a press conference Friday.
