La Velle Neal III of the Star Tribune reports the Twins are interested in signing free-agent pitcher Rich Harden. The right-hander didn’t pitch at all last season because of injuries. Although he’s been plagued by injuries throughout his career, Harden has always been a very good strikeout pitcher when he is healthy.
Neal also reports the interest in Harden may have something to do with talks breaking down between the team and Francisco Liriano. Liriano, along with Carl Pavano are drawing interest from the Mets.
Meanwhile, the Twins finalized a one-year deal with starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey on Thursday.
