Shabazz Muhammad is finalizing a deal to return to the Timberwolves, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Wolves only have the veteran minimum to offer Muhammad, meaning he’ll sign a one-year deal worth $1.6 million since he’s been in the league for four years.
Woj said it could include a second-year player option.
Earlier this summer Minnesota renounced his restricted free agent rights, which gave the team an additional $7 million in cap space.
The 24-year-old has averaged just under 10 points per game in his career. He had a big season last year, shooting over 48 percent from the floor.
He’ll likely continue to come off the bench for the Wolves, where he’s been a solid contributor.
It will be his second year with head coach Tom Thibodeau, who spent the summer rebuilding the team’s roster with the additions of Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague (who had a specific moment he knew he wanted to be a Wolf), Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford.

The Timberwolves open training camp later this month and will play their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sept. 30.
