General managers from around Major League Baseball are meeting in Arizona for the annual GM meetings and the Twins’ new leaders, David Falvey and Thad LeVine, are getting calls about All-Star second baseman Brian Doizer.

Dozier is coming off an insane 2016 season where he hit 42 home runs and was also one of the best players in all of baseball in the second half.
Combined with Dozier’s solid numbers and an affordable contract ($15 million over the next two seasons) there’s speculation whether Minnesota would trade Dozier.
Levine told the Mike Beradino of the Pioneer Press that, “Watching from afar, I think we view him as one of the best offensive second basemen in the game.”
“He had a phenomenal season, highlighted by what you’d say really was a historic second half,” LeVine added. “That’s the way we view him. I’m quite certain the rest of the industry probably feels pretty similar as they evaluate him.”
Although Dozier had a big season offensively, the Twins need better pitching. They allowed a league-worst 889 runs in 2016, which was a big reason why they lost 103 ball games.
The free agent market for starting pitching isn’t as deep in years past, which means there could be more trades in this offseason.
Whether he’s on the field in Minnesota or used as trade bait, it’s clear that Dozier is an asset for the Twins going forward.
