Former Viking Bryant McKinnie sounds confident that he’ll be back next year with the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
According to NBC’s Pro Football Talk, McKinnie told Maryland’s Carroll County Times that Ravens coach John Harbaugh twice made inquires to him about next year: the first time after the team’s playoff victory over New England, and then again before the team played the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.
The web site wasn’t entirely enthused on reporting the developments on McKinnie, noting they could have asked him questions about his future with the Ravens “if he had actually called in at the agreed time for his recent appearance, instead of calling, you know, not at all.”
McKinnie played for the Vikings from 2002 to 2010, before signing with the Ravens in 2001. He played back-up all year for the Ravens before earning his starting spot when the playoffs began.
After the Super Bowl victory, he celebrated with the likes of halftime performer Beyonce and Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps.
Matt Birk joins McKinnie as former Vikings to earn a Super Bowl ring playing for the Ravens.
