Adrian Peterson stated Monday that he plans to play this week against Philadelphia after suffering a sprained foot against Baltimore Sunday, but an ESPN report says Peterson is unlikely to play against the Eagles at the Metrodome.

Should Peterson miss the game, that would leave Toby Gerhart, who strained his hamstring in relief of Peterson Sunday, and Matt Asiata as the running backs Minnesota would put up against the 8-5 Eagles. Another option is fullback Jerome Felton.
”Nothing new to me. So if that’s the case, I’ll be ready,” Felton told the Associated Press.
Earlier today, head coach Leslie Frazier said a roster move would likely be made at some point this week after the team learned more about the injuries in the backfield.
Whether that move would be made at running back or defensive back, an area also growing increasingly weak due to injuries, was yet to be determined.
