NFL writer Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports! is “100 percent” confident that if the Arizona Cardinals offered their 2015 first-round draft pick to the Vikings for Adrian Peterson, Minnesota’s decision makers would listen.
Robinson spoke with high confidence during a Wednesday interview with Arizona sports radio 98.7 FM. He added that the Dallas Cowboys certainly have not called the Vikings about Peterson, and the only teams in the running for Peterson are Arizona, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and maybe the Atlanta Falcons.
Robinson was adamant that the Cowboys have not approached the Vikings about a deal:
“Whoever says otherwise is 1,000 percent wrong,” he said. “The Cowboys have not spoken to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It has not happened. They haven’t offered a draft pick, they have not picked up the telephone to talk to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It simply has not happened.”
The report falls in line with words from a Dallas executive who earlier this week said he’s confident the Cowboys wouldn’t trade any draft picks for Peterson.
Earlier this week the Pioneer Press cited a source saying six teams could trade for Peterson, but only if a deal is settled before or during the NFL Draft. If Peterson isn’t traded by the then, he won’t be traded at all, the source said.
Pro Football Talk notes that Minnesota is very content with keeping Peterson. The 30-year-old former MVP has fresh legs after sitting out 15 games last season and remains under contract with the Vikings through the 2017 season.
