NHL players voted in favor of allowing the players’ association the options of filing a “disclaimer of interest.” Such a move would allow the players’ union to dissolve, and allow players to file antitrust lawsuits against the NHL. Only 22 of 728 players voted against giving the union the option to disband.
The board has until January 2 to decide whether to break up the union or not.
