Another trade could be on the horizon for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
ESPN NBA reporter Marc Stein reports the Timberwolves could be involved in a trade involving power forward Thaddeus Young, the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder. The report is from ESPN Insider, but here’s a portion of what Stein reported.
“Stein writes: ‘Sources say one option that strongly interests Nets, IF Brook Lopez trade goes down, is trying to deal Kendrick Perkins (to the Wolves) for Thaddeus Young … ESPN sources say Wolves are willing to move Young as part of ongoing rebuild and Young said to be high on list players Brooklyn covets.'”
Stein adds that Perkins and his expiring contract would likely be accompanied by cash and future draft picks.

Minnesota gave up a first-round draft pick to acquire Young from the 76ers in the offseason. CBS Sports says it wouldn’t look good for Wolves coach/general manager Flip Saunders if he bailed on Young already; especially in exchange for Perkins, who doesn’t offer a long-term solution in the post.
Young has a player option worth just under $10 million next season, according to Pro Basketball Talk. With the NBA’s salary cap expected to rise significantly in 2016, there’s a better chance Young will opt-in and wait to become a free agent until the cap rises. In that sense, taking Young’s $10 million off the books could be good for Minnesota.
The Wolves traded Corey Brewer to the Rockets in December.
