It’s starting to look like the London game the Minnesota Vikings play in 2024 will be against Stefon Diggs and the Houston Texas.
The NFL has already announced that Minnesota will play a pseudo home game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season but their opponent has not been revealed. Enter Declan Goff of SKOR North, who on Wednesday said he’s been told by a “good source” that it’s a team from the AFC South.
“I was told, it’s not the Colts. I’ll say it is another team in their division, though. I’ve heard it is a team that is in that division that they have penciled in so far. Sources telling me that is an AFC team,” Goff explained on Purple Daily. “Date TBD, but I did hear from a good source that it is an AFC South team.”
Since it’s a home game we can start to deduce which team it could be. If Goff is correct that it’s not the Colts and it is a team from the AFC South, that leaves only one possibility: The Houston Texans.
Minnesota’s 2024 home games include dates with the Lions, Packers, Bears, Cardinals, 49ers, Falcons, Jets, Colts and Texans. So we already knew that it had to be one of those teams, and again, if Goff is accurate, then it could very well be a London game filled with intriguing storylines.
Diggs, traded to Houston on Wednesday, played five seasons with the Vikings before being traded to the Bills. And the Texans used the 2025 second-round pick they got from Minnesota last month to get the Bills to deal them Diggs.
Houston also has edge rusher Danielle Hunter, who signed with the Texans as a free agent in March after nine seasons with the Vikings. Minnesota, meanwhile, will be starting two former Texans on defense as they signed edge rusher Jonathan Greenard and linebacker Blake Cashman last month.
