It appears a wheelbarrow full of cash wasn’t enough to lure free agent wideout Mike Wallace to the Minnesota Vikings.
In a story published in USA Today, Wallace reportedly turned down a $76 million offer from the Vikings. Instead, he signed a five-year, $60 million deal with the Miami Dolphins.
The Vikings eventually signed former Packers star Greg Jennings for $45 million.
Why Miami over Minnesota?
Wallace, 26, says he chose the Dolphins for the chance to win a Super Bowl ring sooner, than later.
“The money is not all I’m in it for,” Wallace told USA Today. “I want to be a great player — win Super Bowls, go to Pro Bowls continuously.”
NFL.com writer Dan Hanzus, meanwhile, says “heads need to be examined in Minnesota.”
As he put it, the big offer was clearly “panic in a Percy-free world.”
