Miguel Sano is currently listed on the Temporary Inactive List with the Fort Myers Miracle, and the Star Tribune reports that he’s flown to the Dominican Republic for a family matter.
Sano has been playing with the Fort Myers Miracle, the Class A affiliate of the Twins, since being demoted in mid-June.
A year ago at this time Sano was competing in the Home Run Derby, where he finished second and played in the All-Star Game the next night. He’s done a 180 this season, batting just .203 with seven homers and 27 RBI in 37 games with the Twins before being optioned to Fort Myers.
The good news is that Sano is hitting .328 with two homers and 12 RBI in 19 games at Fort Myers. He played in Sunday’s game and had the game-tying RBI double in the ninth inning, but was out of the lineup on Monday.
We’ll update the story when we learn more.
