As if more signs pointing to the imminent trade between the Wolves and Cavaliers involving Kevin Love were necessary, Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski offered up this huge report today.
Cleveland is making the deal with Minnesota with a firm agreement Love will opt out of his contract in 2015 and re-sign with the Cavaliers on a five-year, $120 million-plus contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Timberwolves beat writer for the Star Tribune Jerry Zgoda has confirmed the report.
Wojnarowski, like many other reporters, says the Cavaliers will send Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a first-round pick to Minnesota. The trade will be announced Aug. 23, which is 16 days from now. It falls in line with the first day Cleveland can trade Wiggins after he signed his rookie contract.
Wiggins, meanwhile, was a bit stunned when ESPN’s Tim McCormick congratulated him on the trade to Minnesota.

Zgoda reports that the first-round pick is a 2015 protected first-round pick, and Minnesota wants to trade that pick to Philadelphia for forward Thaddeus Young. Earlier reports suggested the 76ers could be involved in the blockbuster by finding a way to deliver Young to Minnesota, but today’s news suggests there isn’t a third team involved in the deal.
For Love, it's never been really been about the market. It's about winning and getting paid. In Cleveland, he gets both.

Wojnarowski writes that Minnesota “still has a goal of freeing itself of J.J. Barea, Luc Mbah a Moute and Alexey Shved.”
