Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press writes that it “seems likely” the Twins will trade first baseman Justin Morneau before the July 31 MLB non-waiver trade deadline.
Walters goes on to say Morneau could return to Minnesota as a free agent in the offseason.
A recent attempt by Morneau and his agent to discuss a contract extension was rejected by the Twins, according to the Pioneer Press.
Morneau is hitting .271 with seven home runs and 52 RBI in 86 games this season.
