Good news for Joe Mauer, who continues to recover from a concussion he suffered August 19 against the Mets.
According to the Pioneer Press, Mauer’s concussion symptoms are diminishing and there’s a chance he joins the Twins in Oakland later this week.
“If he’s healthy, we’d love to have him,” Twins general manager Terry Ryan said. “Doesn’t matter if it’s a long flight (to Oakland). I think he’d like to join us if he can. He wants to play as bad as any of us want him to play.”
Mauer stayed at home to work out on Tuesday — the second straight day he avoided a trip to the ballpark to get in some work. The Twins want Mauer’s headaches to go away before he ramps up the intensity of his workouts.
