As the world turns, so does the Vikings quarterback carousel.
The QB saga took a pair of turns Wednesday.
First, coach Leslie Frazier said he has picked a starter for Sunday’s game in Dallas, but he didn’t want to divulge who it’s going to be.
If Frazier didn’t want to say it, we highly doubt he wanted any of his players to unveil the choice. That, however, is exactly what wide receiver Jerome Simpson reportedly did.
According to the Pioneer Press, Simpson said Christian Ponder is going to start.
“I think we’re going with Ponder,” Simpson said. “I feel confident in him. We just got to protect for him and make the catches.”
Ponder declined to comment on the issue.
“I can’t say yet, I’ll let coach handle that,” Ponder told 1500 ESPN following practice Wednesday.
Earlier this week Frazier said the QB competition was down to Ponder and Josh Freeman. Ponder started Sunday night against the Packers.
ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio said anyone other than Freeman at this point would be a surprise.
