If the Vikings are going to be convinced that Jayden Daniels is the quarterback of their dreams, it might happen today when Vikings decision-makers will have dinner with him.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, citing Daniels’ agent, Ron Butler, reported Thursday morning that the dinner will happen exactly one week before the first round of the NFL Draft.
“Minnesota owns the No. 11 and 23 picks and has been gathering all the info in case there’s an opportunity to move up for one of the top QBs,” Pelissero says.
That falls in line with what KSTP-TV’s Darren Wolfson reported last week, that the long-anticipated meeting between the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and the Vikings will be taking place today. Wolfson reported that the meeting would take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Daniels is considered one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft and most mock drafts have him going No. 2 to the Washington Commanders. However, the Commanders on Wednesday had a joint dinner Wednesday with four quarterbacks – Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy and Michael Penix Jr. – leading Daniels’ agent (Butler) to retweet a tweet from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio that questioned the strategy.
“Why would you dilute your ability to get maximum time, and just the opportunity to evaluate, you’re trying to evaluate four guys at once?” Florio wrote.
The drama is building as the wait to learn what the Vikings do on draft night gets shorter and shorter.
