It sounds like the Gopher men’s basketball team will be one of the four teams in the 2017 Barclays Center Classic next season.
Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports first reported it earlier Tuesday morning, and now team beat reporter Marcus Fuller of the Star Tribune has confirmed the report.
Alabama, BYU and UMass will also highlight the tournament.
The Barclays Center Classic an annual event that was inaugurated in 2012. The games will take place during Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
Richard Pitino’s squad only lost one key contributor from last season in Akeem Springs.
With a solid incoming freshman class, the Gophers should be able to match last season’s success where they won 24 games and returned to the NCAA Tournament.
Minnesota sports fans should be plenty busy that weekend as the Vikings will also play on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit against the Lions.
